VeEster Underdue Jeffers, a daughter of the late Ananias and Jennie Vincent Underdue was born on May 1, 1926 in Henrico, North Carolina.

VeEster Jeffers, affectionately known as “Aunt Bea” was a gentle and loving soul whose kindness touched everyone she met. She peacefully entered eternal rest on November 8, 2025 in Charlotte, NC at the age of 99, surrounded by loved ones.

Early Life & Faith. VeEster was educated in the North Hampton County Public Schools. She accepted Christ early in life and became a member of Gaston Baptist Church. She moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where she lived with her sister, Norena Lashley. She later met and married Carnell Jeffers.

A Life of Service. A dedicated homemaker and mother, VeEster discovered her true calling as a childcare provider. She lovingly cared for many children from infancy through their early years and was known for her nurturing spirit and her sweet “Aunt Bea" terms of endearment such as “Sugar”, Tink-a-boo" and "Dood-dacious."

She faithfully served at Southern Baptist Church as a deaconess, on the Pastor's Aid ministry, and in Senior Choir No. 1. Later, she and Carnell joined Greater Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, where they were spiritually strengthened under the ministry of Pastor Reginald Thomas.

A Woman of Joy & Flavor. VeEster was a great cook, and among her crowd favorites were her delicious pound cakes, 7UP cakes, BBQ sauce, and turnip greens. Her unwavering love of KFC was no secret to accompany her delicious side dishes. With her sweet tooth and gentle humor, she always made room for "something sweet," even if it was just a piece of Doublemint gum. Her honest, playful remarks like complimenting someone's "hips and thighs" brought laughter to all who knew her.

Family & Legacy. VeEster was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carnell; her son, Aaron Barner; four sisters; and seven brothers.

Her treasured memory will live on through her devoted daughter and caregiver, Glenda Jeffers-Toye (Martin) of Charlotte, NC; her brother, Linwood Underdue (Mattie) of Schenectady, NY; five grandchildren, Martin Toye jr., Glenda "Venell" Toye, Jasmine Mitchell, Joshua Toye (Emily), and Morgan Toye; three great-grandchildren, Jalen Toye Ellis, Kennedy Toye, and Atticus Toye; and a loving host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

VeEster will forever be remembered for her kindness, beautiful smile, and the love she poured into everyone she encountered. We rejoice that she is now resting in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
